A bowl of molasses will help sometimes. The gnats don't usually hurt anything but they look like shit stuck to the sticky bugs.lol

pour 1-2 inches of fine play ground sand in the tops of your pots....the will all be gone in 24 hours. The gnats can't burrow in and out of the sand thus eliminating problem the only down side is it sucks to water from the top if thats how you do it, it just takes longer to water

Might be thrips, Try a blue sticky trap (trhips are more drawn to blue), the sand trick, and FoxFarms "Dont bug me" spray.

I haven't tried the sand trick, because the spray knocked em out.

hotshots no pest strips will kill and keep gnats away. also hanging up yellow sticky traps will help too from them munching on your leaves

The gnats I get are harmless and inconsequential.

Playground sand may well get rid of the gnats in the pots, but there's an army more of them (and their eggs) in the soil bag they came from.

Plus, not at all a good idea to suffocate the roots in an atttempt to control a (virtually) harmless critter. The layer of sand will hold moisture too good, (keeps soil too moist for too long) and restricts the airflow the roots require.

I'm pretty sure it says on the No Pest Strips package to give it a week or so to start seeing results.

Remember in the olden days and farmers had those sticky strips of paper hanging in the barn? Hang a couple of them in the grow rooms, and it will get them all over time, and anything else that wanders in, I have two at the intake duct.

I use fabric pots...didn't even think about that as it is not an issue for me. I suppose it would be a problem for regular pot users...
