    Sex detection

I've heard that it should be possible to find the sex of your plant before to switch it to 12/12. Far as I know, its done with a microscope, but strength is unknown.

Supposedly the plant already has a sex determined, but its,,, "genitals" are diminutive, henche the microscope.

Anyone else heard of this method, or know whether or not this is possible?

but its called pre-flowers,and they usually show on the plant during veg and when the plants is at its fourth to fith node,

male will show a single ball on a stem

female will show a tear-drop shape with one or two white hairs popping out

exactly, if its a female you'll start seeing little hairs at the base of the stems, otherwise you'll see pollen pouches if its a male...its quite obvious what to look for once u see a male...good luck with your work

Awesome, just what I needed to hear! Thanks guys, I wanted to do selective breeding, but wasn't sure if it was worth it (clones, observing time, etc.)

,,, pluss, I also have this wetdream of breeding a badass :smokin:

Got a clue on how strong of a microscope I'd need? 30x?

BTW, noob here, sry for posting on wrong thread.

No need for a microscope to see the preflowers. First link in my sig has pics of what to look for.

But if you want to be a "breeder" it's best to make more than one run on a plant from seed. In other words, pop a seed, veg it, clone it, flower it, make notes during the grow and with the finished product. Then take the clone, veg it, flower it, take notes again. Some strains don't reach their maximum potential on the first seed run. It takes a lot of time to selectively breed the best. Their is a lot of good breeding info on other sites (one's with reputable breeders).

Amazing, I had everything else you just mentioned figured out, but I had no idea this was so easy.

This is my first grow (ever), have 3 started (sativa) at the same time, and 2 more from a different strain (indica) started 4weeks later.

Again, thanks alot. They're pretty tight on meds up here, and the only shit they'll give me for chronical neck illnes is benzodiazapines (klonazepam). Too strong, too addictive. This I've done for fun as a teenager everyday, stopped, became habitual, etc. Basically mid-heavyweight stoner.

,,, yeah, so it was not hard to limit pills, and give the bong more fills :rasta:
