I hope you're aware of the economic state, taxes and crime rates for the area before you move. If you're talking about moving into the Macon area, do NOT buy a house - RENT! Georgia is the third poorest state in the nation, and pays accordingly.

I moved (back) to this hell-hole when Katrina made me leave New Orleans. I grew up here and 'thought' it'd be a great place to come back to. -- WRONG. I made the mistake of buying before I did my homework. I have had to obtain a concealed carry permit, and never leave home without being armed. And yes, I have had to use it once to avoid an armed robbery while sitting in my car at a WAFFLE HOUSE (of all places!). Who goes to the WH with any money (to speak of) in their pocket? Who could possibly go there carrying enough money for someone to risk their life trying to take it?

My property taxes increased 20% this year and they've got the absolute screwiest method of determining taxes I've ever seen. While property values dropped everywhere my property assessment went up by 15%. The "homeowner exemption" went away, the HTRP disappeared - the bottom line is my property tax went from +/- $300 a year to +/- $700 a year. The tax system is something like, "First we access, then we determine how much we want to get, and lastly we determine the millage rate to get that much." HUH????

And did I mention that possession of ANY amount of cannabis is still considered a major crime? SWAT team action for the simple act of sitting in your living room, watching TV, burning a doobie. Jeez....

Rent before you by my friend. Take a year to determine if you want to stay around here or not before you make it a permanent choice.

If you're coming to Macon (or nearby) I'd be glad to take the time to meet'cha. Being disabled, I'm not out running the streets much, so I'm pretty easy to find.

coming from ohio ANYTHING is better than up here! I am just renting an apartment and will be just outside the loop (so I am told...it will still take me awhile to figure out the terminology). The area I am going to be in is supposed to be nice (again so I am told). I will actually be working in the buckhead area, but that is too expensive for me to try to live there. From what I hear and read, I was under the impression that the police had better things to worry about than enjoying in the privacy of your own home? That is sad to hear...now I am not as excited haha.

Hmmmm... Sorry, but you won't find me on ANY "social networking" sites.... facebomb, linkedaway.... nope nope. I know the dangers of those all to well.

I just read an article today where a woman got denied an insurance claim because of something she said/showed on Facebomb. Anything you say on those sites not only can, but WILL come back to haunt you.

My daughter lives on the west coast. Obviously, I live in Ga. She's of the "social" generation. I'm an ex-hippie with a cynical view of the govt. We had to come to an understanding. I bought her a digital camera cause I wanted pictures of her. She come back with "Well, I put them on Facebomb." Now she understands I want her to send them to me in high resolution via email and won't go to a social networking site to see them at 300x150 in 72 dpi. Instead, I'll call her on her cell and ride her ass till she sends it to me.

I can turn Skype on right now if you'd like.

Hey boss, my internet is down b/c Comcast jacked me up from 30/mo to 120 w/o so much as notifying me so fuk em. I can Skype from my phone but it drains my battery. As far as fb goes I NEVER create a profile with real info, as u kno tht will bite u in the ass. Make a fictitious name/acct or email me and ill give ya my number. Look forward to hearing from ya.
