Ok how low of PPM before you start supplementing cal and mag? My Tap water is 40 PPM should I be supplementing with CalMag?

You need to add cal mag plus to get it up to 250 ppm's and then add nutes. A little shy of that won't hurt.

Like my total ppms of my source water is 300 ppm
The Cal. could be from 6 - 25 ppm, according to the town's readings.
The Mag. could be from 2 - 8.0 ppm.
Do you mean get the total ppm of the source water be about 250 ppm
and then add cal. mag. until it comes up to 300 ppm ..then adding nutes
will raise the ppm of your Res.
Like my set up started at 300 ppm. Then i add General Hydroponic

Zeff your water starts at 300 and after nutes is at 350?? something seems odd with that. What kind of setup you have? How big is your res, if you have one. How old are plants?

are 3 days shy of ONE month young.....I mix up a gal. of nutes
General Hydro.1, 2, 3, feed'm that, at or below the " legal dose ! "
I get the 350ish ppm from the 55 gal. res. after it takes back the gallon that
i poured into the controller ( smaller feeder ) 1 gal. res.
Ok so, as i'm writting this i realize i should do a ppm reading after
i mix uppa batch, before it goes into the system. DAAAAAA ! O tay boss !
Ok, just did that and the PPMs are 650....so i add that to the "controller " res.
as i goes into Flood mode. When the " tide goes back out to sea " to the 55 Gal. res. that's where i get the 350 ppm !

pH being ( left out of the conversation ) is always kept in the range of
5.6 to 6.5

PH sounds good but back to the nutes. When you mix nutes up are you just figuring the 1 gallon your using to mix or are you mixing strength for the water in rez?? I give example for ya so we on same sheet of music. I believe we have the same system as I have a 55 gal rez too and also use GH. At your stage I would have 27 gals in my rez. At the mix I go by that would be:
Micro 5 ml per gal = total 135ml
Grow 5ml per gal = total 135ml
Bloom 5 ml per gal = total 135ml
florishous plus 8ml per 5 gal = total 40ml
Not saying your mixing wrong just seems real lite for some reason. are you running nutes full strength or partial atm?

Hello toons,
The nute mixture is a gal. atta time. when I'm home I mix up a gal. of nutes
when the timer flips i add the nutes to that nute res. or what " they " call
controller res. ...so actually the 55 Gal. Res. just gets
the return of the of what the tide brings back... That way the ppms are a
controlled and gradual build up. If anything fukes up one would only have to
replace a portion of the 55 Gal. res. instead of all of it !

If one brings the nutes up in the 55 Gal. res. all at once. Then the girls
( often do ) " change their minds ! ! ! " you gotta change out more or all
of your 55 Gal. res.

Now rev it up, smoke the tires. But get your self a " Valentine Radar "
That's what i used when i was commuting from Boston to the Cape
on my bike ! Never failed me !
