It is that easy. I medicate for Fibromyalgia, depression, and insomnia. Things are great just like they are here in California(refering ONLY to the MMJ laws, the rest of it isn't quite so good). I don't understand why so many people are for complete legalization (AKA Prop. 19). All that would do is open up the market to big tobacco. Phillip-Morris and RJReynolds are reported to own a combined 50,000+ acres bought here in Ca. in the last 5 years. I don't trust them. They will grow inferior quality medicine and add preservatives and chemicals to get you addicted. I have smoked both cigarettes and mj since high school. I have quit mj several times in my life for various reasons and resumed when circumstances allowed. I've never been able to quit cigarettes for more than a few days at a time. Keep the laws the same. Vote no on Prop. 19!

    Keep smoking naturally! Peace!:bigsmoke:

I don't live in Cali but I've heard Big Tobacco has already been trying to buy dispenseries and shit. Heard Philip Morris offered 300 mil for a few but were told to go f yourself. Rumors? I hope so. But if not, I hope they all tell them to "get out! We don't need ya." I can see it happening though since the gov't is taxing ciggies so much. They'd need to make money somehow. They probably would put chems in it to make it addictive.

300 million dollars for a few dispenseries? I am a business student at Wharton...and that is the most insane thing I've ever heard. I can't see anyone offering that kind of money for a dispenery ever.

And more to the point, let's say they did add a substance such as nicotine to the marijuana they sell. They would have to disclose that information.

You, as the consumer, have the choice whether or not to purchase the product. You either support them or you don't. This is one of the many benefits to free exchange of goods. The market will quickly show that there is a larger demand for additive free marijuana.

And ofcourse, no one company can hold a monopoly on an industry. It would quickly be broken apart just as MANY monopolys have been in this country.

Obviously this is a snipet of what could turn into a huge debate. Any economics major will tell you that you have nothing to worry about when legalization comes. In fact, you'll have a lot to gain in the form of more avaliability, higher quality, and lower prices.

As far as growing your own when it is illegal...I don't see this being a big trend either. Case and point: the distilling of grain into alchohol is a process much simpler than growing, harvesting, and producing marijauana. Yet, virtually no one distills their own alchohol. Why? Because it isn't cost effective.

    Anyways...that's about enough for now.

I still say the system is working just fine as it is, on the state level. There is a LOT of money involved here. Not only with sales and taxes on cannabis, but has anyone thought about the fact that the feds can stop ALL federal funding to Ca. if they deem that the state is defying federal law? I'm still voting no on 19, I'm legally growing right now.:rasta:

    NO on 19!!!

If we vote yes it will go to big corps so fast your head will spin.

The last thing we need are a bunch of uninformed stoners voting yes simply because they want to smoke pot!!

NO ONE GOES TO JAIL FOR SMOKING POT IN CA!!!

    It's a $60 fine!!!!!!!!

    Budlover,

Growing marijuana, selling marijuana through a dispensery or or other outlet, smoking marijuana, is still considered illegal on a federal level. The federal government will not stop funding programs in California just because the DEA has a problem with the Medical Marijuana statutes.

The issue of government vs. states right & government vs. state law is MUCH more complicated that anyone on this forum is qualified to discuss...so you should probably not say things like that.
