From what I've seen there just isn't room for the carts. Its such a mass of people there's no room on the walkways. I think its a good thought, but at this point not realistic.

well posing the question is far from following the proper channels of the event organizers.

The people who throw hempfest have hundreds of thousands of people to deal with, if every person was allowed to bring in whatever equipment they wanted the event would be a disaster.

So let me clarify then, he followed the channel to the organizer ceo john last year about these, so "complexed" issues that are now on the forefront again, only this year steve is not going to disallow us disabled by taking it on the chin again.

I agree with steve as far as his legal ada claims, the combustible engine vehicle i am sure is the tool into that arena...

I also believe in all honesty that if done right, they can make a section in that park in which electric transo carts as i posted can be utilized with care..i have seen it with my own eyes...remember also this is not a paid for "public" event such as safeco field and the like which requires a fee for entry.

I am also sure this issue has been kicked around enough with the organizer ceo,city of seattle, that we are the last to hear about it...par for the coarse.

Had someone done their "duty" for all inclusive instead of the 1-6 shut down(because hempfest organizers have "combustible engine vehicles, not electric".

I think it really is time for hempfest to look for a new venue. Its just getting too big for the park. Where I don't know.

Well if hempfest would be needed after 2011 jan. legislative session..due to fact it's only real function is about to end..i.e. legalizing cannabis use in wa..

ADA doesn't cover bringing your own vehicle anywhere you want, even rallies like hempfest. Nor does the ADA require hempfest to provide things like scooters, though I think it is a good idea for them to do it.


Things like scooters, wheel chairs etc are personal items.

golf carts like the one i posted and the exact same ones the sole sponger used at portland fest are not "personal" items as you think your referring to..they are "public" accommodation items. you should read the caselaw behind it, instead of listening to jargon from hempfest know it alls..they never researched it in the "Public accomodation" free speech section but, employment and paid entry establishments only...i follow along very closely with the caselaw on these types of legal quandaries.

I myself have filed ada claims before..so am familiar with it's civil action-ability...

We still need to get hemp legalized nationwide. Amazing that we're getting cannabis legalized but a completely benign plant like hemp is still considered dangerous.lol

Don't know if you know this or not but, Cannabis .L Sativa is both hemp/marijuana as defined under both state & federal..once marijuana get's legalized, hemp automatically becomes legal because they are classified the same..regardless of thc content..

Hempfest even said this may be the last yr...their excuse was money, the real reason is who is going to go to a fest to legalize something already legal in the state it promotes from..not logical at all from a financial stand point..and hempfest is all about the dough..don't full yourself thinking the worlds # 1 "cash" crop isn't all about the dough...

Hempfest will move to another state or be non-existent..only 2 options.

Got any ammo in that knife of yours?? i.e. any caselaw to show this is true?? I know i do,have some which says they do... and if i do..you can bet steve and his band of ada lawyers do..much more than i have access to...
