Don't think that will work, the plant follows a day-cycle, which I dont think is strictly proportional.

24-hours of darkness is going to strain you babies, and surpassing 12hours of light can revert to the vegetative stage.

Even if flowering does continue, I would assume growth is impeded by the unnatural day-rythm, and whatever stress that might be implicated.

On the other hand, I've also heard that the typical method of switching from 18/6 to 12/12 right away (most of us do that, few change the photoperiods gradually) somewhat "freaks out" the plant, which prones it to produce more THC.

This is something I've wondered about myself, and Im sure the tinkering scientists have made attempts at optimizing like this. If its not somewhat prolific among growers guides, I doubt it works.

It might be interesting to test out if do selective breeding (?), since any plant surviving the process is likely to have a high stress tolerance (which is of course a highly desirable trait), and expose any tendencies of hermaphrodism (which is unwanted in your genepool).

I've tried to initiate flower just by switching to 12/12 light cycle and with the 72 hour darkness period. It showed signs of female about 7-8 days quicker with the darkness period. Its sped things up alot in my opinion so I do it all the time now.

It'll save some power. I don't see how a plant would grow better without light.
