Catapillers? cabbage worms? wicked little fuckers
Has anyone used the bacteria that is supposed to kill catapillers. I have a bad infestation and none of my organic insecticides are working, even for the smaller ones. I read about products containing a bacteria which fills their stomachs after they ingest it, but havent found it in my area yet. Any help or alternative methods would be appreciated. thanks

These worms are really bad this year, they say its because of the amount of rain we got in so-cal. Personally I think they're bad every year. I don't care where I am , if I see a moth fly anywhere in an arms reach I will swatt it to the ground and put it out like a lit cigarette, and thats no joke. I even have my dog on it, she'll knock down anything in her path to put her teeth on em.Here the link online:.
Amazon.com: Thuricide Bacillus Thuringiensis 8 fl oz: Kitchen & Dining
They are Larvae from the Gypsy Moth, and its best to spray it at night because the UV from the sun breaks it down and it only last a week or so. So you have keep on doing it up to the end. its safe to spray a few days before harvest they say, but I stop about 2 weeks just like with nutrients and just keep a close eye on em

Thanks hendo. I was wondering what the time period was and that works out perfect if youve never had any problems. The large ones which were green started about a month ago, and it took me 3 or 4 days to find them. They were almost 2 inches long but my re-veg with unfurling sticky leaves was the perfect camo. The smaller ones, which now seem to be a couple different varities started a week ago, and are much harder to spot but the earlier the better. The poop and i guess ...cacoons?... has caused rot and while i was out of town almost every new growth site was chewed. Its a good place to start looking. I cant pull them off every morning but looking for the poop is like a map. Thanks boys

I had them fucking things last year. I had to pull my plant or give it up to the worms. About a month early my buds started to turn brown and crispy and wasnt sure as to what the hell was going on. Upon further looking, I found a dam worm. They were every where, and I smoked um...For real
Im glad this came up as I forgot about that...Shit I hope they aint around this year. They will be a million deep this time

If you notice small holes chewed in the big stage leaves the worms are young and small. They also have yet to get into the bud where they are protected. This is the best time to spray. Neem oil works, but I prefer a pyretherin based insecticide. If you spray early you will kill the majority of them. Spray at the first sign of flower. Soak the plant well. Catch them now, and very few will get into the bud.
If they get into the buds look for little black pellets. That is worm shit and it gives you a general place to look for them. Look above he pile in the bud and you will probably find one.
The last tell is a spot on your bud dies and wilts in the sun. If you see that, a worm is munching the bud. Dig into the bud, remove the dead stuff and kill the worm.
Remember, an area munched opens that spot up to bud rot. Same with the tiny shit piles. Take off any dead buds. Also remove any half eaten stems. And the turds.
With our drought I have not seen any White Cabbage moths this year
. Here they are the ones that are green and make a webtent in the flowers.
With worms if you catch them early you can solve the problem early. Once they get into the buds it is way harder to get rid of them. And if they are left untreated and get big, they can munch a plant in two weeks.
