If you are set on the Albuquerque area,Rio Rancho is fine.
    Personally,I wouldn't live within 35 miles of Albuquerque.....but that's just me.

Bernallillo is the most served for sure. Rio Rancho is not bad as it has grown immensely. Santa Fe is green friendly but living in the city limits is ridiculously expense. If I had the means I personally would like to live in a sparsely populated area of SFE county. It just for you depends on where you're coming from and what you are used to. Also if you have a significant other for assistance.

An example of Rio Rancho would be like Denver-Aurora, it's all one big area. Parts of Rio Rancho are newer and more peaceful but can be quite far from ABQ. A pain the rear drive too.

Honestly,yeah.....crime and gangs are no joke in the Albuquerque area.
    I visit there,but don't stay long.

I would suggest at least looking into the southern area of NM,around Ruidoso/Alamogordo area.

Mscaboo it would help if you say where it is that you're moving from.

Slayer is right about the punks in ABQ. I've lived in some major metro areas however I don't like going out at night in ABQ. The town in the grand scheme is small but the drugs are no joke. The young kids do things you wouldn't believe in search of nothing but attention it seems.

If you need a more city-like place,Las Cruces in the southwest part of NM might be more for you.Bonus there is that I think one of the new Producers is opening there and will probably deliver.

I know what you mean about florida,I used to live there for awhile also.

Dona Ana county( Las Cruces) is one of the counties receiving a new producer.
The place isn't bad to live in as long as you can put up with the people here that think the world revolves around the town. There are awesome homes here and nice ones as well.

As far as the police it is pretty simple. The city cops are very much a joke. The Sheriffs are much easier to deal with and more lenient. The state police are laid back and let it flow, except for DWI. If you have done something and the SP show up you are in trouble.

If you have the money you can get an awesome place here right now.I don't know how much home values have fallen nationwide but here you can get a million dollar house for 400-600k.
