Need nitrogen (and nothing else)
Hello everyone, and thank the gods we're back on line.
For the last few days to a week I've been having an issue I thought was caused by to much Magnesium. However after doing a test. I'm actually a little high on Phosphate, just right on Potassium, and really low on nitrogen.:wtf:
Issue is, I use BC nutes. Of the 9 part complete system, ONLY BC Boost has high nitrogen and NO phosphate. However it does have Potassium (to which I also don't want to add).
I checked my other nutes. The bat guano I have is high in Phosphate. The MG I have for house plants is also high in everything.
I'm hoping someone with more Nute knowledge can aim me toward a resolution without flushing out what I have, or increasing what I don't need to increase. Such as a product that is JUST nitrogen, without costing me an arm and a leg.
Again thanks for any info, and to the forum for getting back up SO I could ask.:thumbsup:Vancefish Reviewed by Vancefish on . Wow. A 9 part nutrient system...there really is a 9 part system...? I thought Fox Farms was going overboard with a 3 part system. You sure you're not talking about a GH 3 part system plus additives?
The major problem with an over-complicated approach to nutrients...if you have problems, which product(s) do you eliminate from the regimin without affecting negative results? Which are to blame, which are helpful?
Kinda looks to me like micro or metals overdose, but would have to see your schedules, application rates, ingredients. I think I'd fush, then only offer the nutrient basics till she's healed and ready for all the additives and such. Likely some of the products are redundant and can cause build-up, (overdose) and the chemicals can alter your ph.
Keep it simple. It's simpler that way...

I know it has to much magnesium. I thought I'd added to much to the R/O water just over a week ago. The crusty leafs, I believe are caused by that.
However that is starting to fade after a lite flush. Issue still is the Nitrate being extra low. Everything else being just a tad high or right on.
I'd prefer NOT to flush again, removing what Nutes ARE still in their proper range. I'd have to believe the tiny bit of extra magnesium has been used up by now.
I'll see what I have after work tonight, and check on the nutes (fish emulsion) today.
BTW,.. I haven't really been using any nutes. The soil was (as always) a bit rich to start with. Adding nutes up to this point has historically burned them. So all I've added was the CalMag to the R/O.

So, both plants are in 10 gallon pots.
Last night I ran two gallons of pure R/O through each. Then a gallon of filtered tap water (PH 7.2) through each. Then added about 120 oz of filtered tap with 1 1/2 tsp of G.H. Veg nutes (5-0-1). Being HUGE and SCRoG'ed to a frame I can't simply poor out the run off. So, I sucked it out with a turkey baster until the tray dried out.(around 4 gallons of run off)
Today I see no progression of the browning, and they both appear to be greening back up. I plan to do another soil test later tonight to see how well this worked.

What kind of test(s) are you doing, and with what? Are you basing your thoughts on a reliable test result? If you are chasing invalid numbers, you can do more harm than good.
A picture or two, and you filling-out the troubleshooting form would help.
