Line w/plastic or not?
I have some great growing locations outdoors next to other indigenous plants in CA. I have dug the holes 5-7 Gal holes and the soil seems pretty good.
Despite this I have some concerns. Lasy year I had outdoor plants that were in 5 gal water jugs. I put holes in the bottoms and dropped them into holes in the ground. This worked OK but I would like to just go direct into the ground.
I want to know if I should line with plastic, use pots or go natural.
I am concerned about soil contamination by molds and bugs, root problems that develope from existing soil or bugs in the soil or water being drAINED OFF BY OTHER PLANTS.
I am leaning towards lining the holes with plastic so I can tie off the trunks with the left over plastic forming some kind of protection for the base in case deer eat the plants perhaps I can have 6" of the base left? I thought this could help keep moisture and bugs out too?
Anyhtoughts???
Also, is it ever possible to have a female plant make "BALLS"??? I have a plant with 8 nodes, it just grew 2 little balls hanging by 2-3 mm "strings" (for lack of a word). I have never seen a make like this. By the time I see balls the whole thing is obviously male.rinconmann Reviewed by rinconmann on . Line w/plastic or not? i would not line the bottom with plastic because it may trap water and rot the roots.

I was thinking I would be putting holes in the bottom of the liner to let water drain. I don't plan to use the existing soil either.

judging by your name you're in southern az area and the soil there is great for cannabis there with only minor help...when i lived and grew there i'd dig out a roughly 2 x 2 x2 hole for each plant then mixed half n half with quality potting soil. they will be needing lots of water during the heat of summer so if you want the big plants you'll have to water em up to 3x/day...
good luck

Close. CA mid to northern. 90-100 in summer. Hot. If I have to water that much I may have to make drip irrig. a reality.
Is there much diff with hand watering every 1,2,3,4, or 5 days and maybe continual drip daily? I have 10 plants, mixed varieties, Haw sknk, Indian haze, Indian sknk. They are In the ground with premixed soil. Good sun.
Is the drip irrog. something i should do??

not with plastic liners. There will be root rot then. Do it without liners is OK, but make sure it never touches the stem
