Department of Veteran Affairs says OK to Cannabis!!

"The battle scarred veteran above will no longer have to take pills for his PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as the VA (Department of Veteran Affairs) on Friday July 23, 2010 made the groundbreaking decision that Veterans will be allowed to be treated with Cannabis in any of the 14 states that currently have Medicinal Marijuana laws in place.

By accepting Cannabis marijuana as medicine the VA is the first branch of the United States Government to admit the medical efficacy of the plant. This decision will surely be pressed and quoted by cannabis activists lobbying for legalization federally..." (PapaKief, Blogger)

It needs to be clarified that the VA docs cannot participate in 'prescription' process. They can now just continue to treat their patients that have the authorization in a given state.

It is a huge step on the part of the feds. Primarily this affects patients that have pain contracts with their doctors. Now they do not have to worry about pee tests, if cannabis is present they still get the pain meds. A huge step. In other words, they will quit looking for it in pee testing across the board for vets.

Its great news for vets. This has been long overdue. Now maybe some of them can get off the really dangerous anti-phsychotics and on to MJ.
