Info Overload - Need Clarification Please
Hi all. I am gearing up for first indoor grow and have been reading and re-reading everything I can. I think I read too much to take in for now.
I am...
- going with the recommended "KISS" approach (3-Part - CalMag and LK or Superthrive).
- getting RO water and a ph kit
- getting FoxFarm Potting Soil
Q: re: 3-Part - is that referring to regular feeding or soil, both?
Where I am getting mixed up is; deciphering the tips regarding nutrients and feeding. It seems some people make their own potting soil/mixtures while others use commercial soils/mixtures which contain nutrients already.
So, for instance, the Miracle Grow 3 or 6 month mixtures contain nutrients, as does FoxFarms, so how much additional feeding/nutrients do I actually need, if at all.
It does occur to me that maybe I am getting feeding mixed up with nutrients. e.g; one and the same ?
If I were to use an analogy, would it be correct to say that 3-part potting soil/mix is like a pets basic required food, and the feeding is like giving treats between meals to aid in proper coat health and shiny teeth?
Other Qs; (i will turn these into separate threads if recommended - just lemme know)
Q: I have seen the tip about flushing the plant prior to harvest, but if I get a soil/mix which has all those nutrients, etc, how could I flush the plant?
Q: I see many use FoxFarm soil but don't see if they dilute for seedlings or use full strength. If diluted - with what?
thanks for any help. sorry again if too much for one thread - I will break up if asked.tukdgr Reviewed by tukdgr on . Info Overload - Need Clarification Please Hi all. I don't have experience with the FF line so I can't offer much help. However, you will want to use a dedicated seedling mix to start. Any pre-fertilized soil will likely burn and kill the seedling.
Keep it all in one thread. Easier for you and easier for everyone else.
