Hey man, that plant looks pretty good, but it does look a little hungry, like it could use some nutrients. You could order some top notch nutes online, or maybe there's a nursery/garden store near you that might sell some decent plant foods. I bet it will green right up for you with a light dose of good quality nutrients. If you can, try to stay away from the Miracle-Gro / Schultz / big name brands they sell at Wal Mart, Home Depot etc. Go with Botanicare or Fox Farm or anything organic if you see them.

The yellowing in the top and the bottom leaves is a sure sign that it is hungry. It is using the nitrogen in the lower leaves because it has taken all it could find in the soil, so they are yellowing out and would have fallen off by themselves if you hadn't clipped them.

Branches starting to grow out along the main stem is completely normal, you should see what would happen if you cut the main top off. I attached a couple shots of one of mine I topped, she went crazy. Come to think of it, growing on your fire escape, you might want to top her anyway, to try to keep her short and bushy.
