Carbon filter and odor control questions
Couple of questions about carbon filter and effectiveness for odor control and placement of the filter to my box fan.
I bought a pretty good quality (I hope) carbon filter for odor control and reading the instructions it say place the filter as close to the fan outlet as possible. My questions are:
1) I have this fan hooked up to my 600 watt light and need the air to flow out of the room to keep my temp under control. If I hook up my carbon filter up to the end of the fan (pic with red label on fan) the carbon filter air will just blow into the room and not up into attic. I might have fresh air but my heat will go up.
2) How effective will my carbon filter be if I hook it up to then end of my tube that is up in the attic about 10 feet from my box fan. If I do this will I loose a lot of the effectiveness of my carbon filter??
I need fan for heat control but also need odor control. Feedback is appreciated on what is best to do if you were me. Thanksscottcc5s Reviewed by scottcc5s on . Carbon filter and odor control questions
My light period is throughout the day, so I leave the grow box open to the pretty small working space that I have. Youâ??ll have to buy another fan to do it my way, but then the stink filter speed and the exhaust fan speed can be controlled individually.

Hope that helps,

Carbon filter and odor control questions
The only way it will work with your current setup is to put filter at end of exhaust duct. The filter will still work since pretty much no matter where it goes on the exhaust side air will still flow through but what you will have to see is if it creates enough resistance to make temps go up. Thats what created all my heat problems was exhaust was to restricted from bends of duct work and mainly from reducing from 6" to 4".

Carbon filter and odor control questions
Thanks HMR and Tiny for feedback.
I am going to put it at the end of the duct up in attic and see how it goes. If heat goes up then I will just have to get a second exhaust fan going.
