Natural Spider Mite Control

I spray Neem a few times per month. Then if I start to see any bugs at all, I just kill their asses with CO2.

I skimmed over something above that was mentioned about using CO2 as a pest control and I will confirm it. It works.

All you do is, crank up your CO2 to over 3,500+ ppm during the night cycle, then let your room just saturate in it for about 4-6 hours, with all ventilation off. You leave your oscillating fans on, but ventilation off. I usually do this for 2 days in a row, then by the third day, those suckers are DEAD!!

This scares some people, because if you were to have your CO2 at that high of a level with the lights on, you'd kill your plants real quick. But since the lights are not on, Photosynthesis is not happening, therefor your plants are not breathing in the lethal levels of CO2. But those damn bugs sure are. Then you just have to wait about a week and do it again, just in case there are any hatched eggs.

But like you said.... Prevention is the key.

The vacum and the c02 work well for most any bug problem out there. Thank you for clarifying that it needs to be done during lights out. Very important.

I went to buy a pest strip and it said it should not be used in areas like kitchens. It seemed to me that meant it can get into the food (plants?) and then be injested. That warning scared me off of buying one. I love the ease of using one and that they really work well, but it seemed dangerous. What does everyone think about that warning? :stoned:

Don't sound good. Wouldn't use it if you have a doubt.
I use "Tomcat houshold pest glue boards" You can get them at lowes I believe.
Not sure of the ones you speak of but the Tomcat catch plenty of unwanted visitors.

Folks have been using no pest strips for years without problem. I am not talking eat or touch them, let the plants inspire the meds that kill the bugs.

Why has a simple process been made complicated? This is proven to work. You have your own methods, use your own thread please.

We should be thinking about Integrated Pest Management:

Cultural Control
Enviromental Control
Mechanical Control
Biological Control
Chemical Control

In that order. Look it up, follow the steps and you will not have a problem ever again. This is how organic producers do it. Start before you have plants, don't bring them in, use natrual ingredients. Use chemicals if you fuck up and learn your lesson so next time you do it right.

I learned from a friend to go old school. Mix up a lighter than normal solution of pyrethrum and DIP. Some leaves may curl, but you will eliminate bugs naturally. Neem and Organocide are effective too...
