Newbie, Need Help!!
I started from seed back on July 1st now with all the help from everyone here I am at this point. I have not had any roots pop out the bottom but the roots that are coming out the side of the stg cube hang about 1/4inch past the bottom of the cube. The cubes they are in were probably cut to long, they are about 3inches tall.
My question is are they ready to go into the buckets yet and how much hydroton should I place on the bottom of the net pot. I am using DWC, 5 gallon black buckets my covers have a 5inch deep net pot.ELEL95 Reviewed by ELEL95 on . Newbie, Need Help!! 1) Be carefull with that foil, light reflecting off of it can create hot spots from the wrinkles.
2)Sounds like they might be ready but how about a pic of the roots to be sure

The roots grew more in the last day this is what they look like today. Should I start using nuts yet or wait a bit longer? Do you think any hand watering would be needed?
The first two are from one and the second two are from the other one.
Thanks for the foil info makes sense but I never thought about it. I am trying to get some mylar waiting for some funds. I will keep an eye on that!

But I advise losing the foil fast.
As you increase the light, foil becomes more of a burn hazard.
(And, unless it's glued to a flat surface, so does mylar)
I was using Reflectix which is an excellent reflector but is way too impermeable.
It kept the soil too moist and interfered with gas exchange
White paper plates make excellent, and cheap soil covers.
As do sheets of typing paper,
White terrycloth hand towels work a treat, they breathe and they are washable.
The texture seems to bewilder Gnats when they attempt to lay eggs in your soil.
Plenty no-budget, choices. Jus' keep thinking.

I am going to get rid of the foil. I am growing in hydro no soil. I am just not sure if my roots are long enough to place in a 5 gallon bucket or not, and how much hyrdroton to place at the base?

yes you can transplant to pots. if i see a good set of roots i transplant and run nutes 1/4 strength for one week then increase accordingly. and your net cups is up to you depending on how long your growing but you fill em up with the clone embedded in it. hand water for the first couple of days or week until the roots touch your solution but dont over water.

in other words hand water couple times a day. 4 gallons of water should put you just about at the bottom of the basket. As Cig stated hand water till the roots have made their way down through the Tron to the water. Once they reach the water they know what to do
Panda film (plastic looking crap that is black on 1 side and white on other) works really well in place of that foil if you have some laying around.
