Best Musician in your opinionMozart. He performed all his piano concerti and violin concerti and was known was an expert improviser. I know that there are no recordings of his playing, but who cares. There still exist reviews of his playing, and they endlessly praise him And come on, anyone who could write the most intelligent and poignant music known to mankind probably knew a thing or two about playing.

Best Musician in your opinionGuitar: John McLaughlin - The guy is freakin' amazing. Not only can he play, he can write, he can improvise, he can do wierd and freaky things with distortion...

Saxophone: John Coltrane - I played the sax for a while in high school, and I came to revere this man as a god. Most inspired, and inspiring, music, not to mention the innovation...

Bass: Jaco Pastorius, for reasons mentioned above

Drums: Billy Cobham - he played with John McLaughlin in the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and the guy can do some wonderful things... One of the only drummers who actually USES the double bass drums, they're not just there for show
