Just a Curious Question?
Say if i grow a plant with one stalk and just trim up all the leaves could i just grow a cola on the end of a long Stem.
Also .... if i do trim the leaves were they split of from the main stem will bud still grow on those nodes or? If not is there any way to promote lower growth on a 4 foot plant.Sensimilla420 Reviewed by Sensimilla420 on . Just a Curious Question? Let the plant do it's thing. By over trimming you will stunt growth. Even topping will reduce the size of the main cola, but slightly increase the size of the branching colas.
I actually trim off the bottom branches as they show signs of not keeping up the growth the upper part does. Helps the top part fill out later. Bottoms like that can grow nanners too, helps control them also.
Some species will grow a better top cola than others. The more indica dominate, the larger the main cola. Sativas tend to grow what I call lollipops, like a bending grow almost.
This all equals up to find the species that grows the top you want, and keep it going.

Just a Curious Question?
Wow...Some people here do not know how some commerical grow ops are done.
I lollipop my plants. All I want is my Crown of Main Colas...On average I grow 3 foot plants. Before I put into flower...I will cut stems and leaves off up to 2 feet up. This way I can have huge top colas...and less fluff on the bottom to trim up. It saves me time...and time is money.

Just a Curious Question?
^^^Good advise for an experienced grower, not so good for a newbie. Best to learn how to grow before you learn how to optimize your grow to suit your needs. Too easy to go overboard and stress 'em further than is necessary.
Were I you, I'd try and find-out why the lower growth died, and concentrate on not letting that happen any more. Was it because the light wasn't strong enough to penetrate deep enough? Or from plucking too many fan leaves? Or too many additives or nutrients? A bug problem?
Till then...supplimental side lighting (CFL's?) is a good option to help this plant fill-in, but results are not guranteed.

K yeah i believe the lower leaves died off beacuse i had moved them into the shade. My other plant that i had that i left in the more direct sunlight is doing more than amazing.
But im kinda just messing around with this plant if i mess it up all i hafta do is plant another seed lol , so i trimmed up all the leaves left 4 top fan leaves and trimed up around the top cola this plant looks hilarious but sence trimming and lettin more light into the top its doubled its hairs and size in like 3 days im kinda excited :rasta:
