    VermontVeggies' INDOOR - Fall 2010

    Hey growin' community,

A friend and I just drove down to the local "Indoor Gardening" store, and looked at lights and things of that sort. The owner was very nice and we picked up a catalog to bring home and look through. We decided that this fall and winter we are going to start growing on a larger scale. Possibly up to 35 plants. We have no equipment currently, and have several locations which we are choosing from. We just decided to start this blog early on so that we could update any progress, even just buying soil, lights, or any other equipment.

I'm going to attempt to post often, to keep everyone updated, and also to provide a very expansive and detailed explanation on indoor growing.

I hope you will read along as the journey for PURP begins!

    Check-in Number Two!

We recently decided on a space to grow, along with the light we are going to buy. We are getting a 1000 watt light and are going to be lighting a 6 by 6 foot space with between 12 to 17 plants. There is a window in the room and we have a house fan in order to help with ventilation.

We are planning on buying everything with in the next two weeks, so I will update at that time!

We have a few questions for the community, though...

    1) Can you use TinFoil as a reflector on the walls?
    2) What are good ways to make the room be completely dark when you need to be, depending on specific light cycles?
    3) What are good seeds that we can buy somewhere online that we can sell at "Headies" prices but not name-brand expensive weed like Sour Deis, or Lemon Haze, ect. We want to buy around 20 feminized seeds, but don't want to spend more then $50. (The space is only around 5 or 6 feet so we were thinking about buying LowRiders so that they would stay short.)

Thanks in advance for the info....

    1. Don't use tinfoil. Pain in the ass and just makes hot spots. Use flat white paint, PVC sheets or mylar.
    2. Board up the windows, or cover them in black PVC (also called visqueen) so not light creeps in. The only light they need is what you give them.
    3. No clue. Got clones from other grows I know.

    Hope it goes well.

I suggest downloading some Cannabis videos from torrents, or reading the FAQs from this board. Helps a ton.

I ordered seeds from seedboutique.com, they arrived in 7 days. the cheaper seeds are from nirvana, I got 3 packs of 10, totaling about 80bucks. however they were not fem.

ps- I am more south than Vermont and seedboutique is Canadian.

Ahh nice to see someone relatively close by, Shovel!

We added up the total cost today and it's going to be around $600, including everything. Does this seem about normal, for a 1000 watt light/bulb along with soil, pots, and nutes for 15 plants?

Also, just a question about "boarding up the windows." How would I ventilate the space if I boarded them up? It's in a loft... could I just use the other end of the loft where the ladder is, for ventilation. And just set up a fan system on that end, which would allow me to board up the windows?

For ventilation you're going to have to find a way to get the air outside. Chimney, make your own hole, out a window with a board over it. Cut a hole somewhere if you have to and put a faux dryer-style vent over it.

    Hey guys!

We need to decide what seeds to purchase... Most deals right now are for 10 seeds, but they throw in 20 for free. This means we will get 30 seeds all together, and we're hoping at least half of those (15) will be females. Here are the specific strains we are looking at. We want something easy, relatively short (under 4 feet: Indica), average or above average yield, and a good THC level. We are looking at seeds in the 25 to 55 EURO price range ($35-75$ for 30 seeds.)

I've never ordered seeds, so just use the site's description of the seeds guide ya. Sometimes it's a mystery.
