Do plants grow with the light off?

Sorry everyone if this seems like a stupid question. I am on my first indoor grow and this has just been baffaling me. The speed in which they are growing and flowering is just amazing compared to outdoor. Any answers appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, they will grow even with the light off. Not as much because photosynthesis the way plants turn light and water into usable energy ( sugars ) but your plant will keep growing with out the light ( for short amount of time ) dude to the sugars still in your plant from when it was in the light.

    your traveling the wrong pathway.

The reason your plant is more happy is because it's getting more light. It's got nothing to do with how much dark it's getting in terms of speed of speed of growth. The plant is doing most of it's growing during lights on but will grow just a little more at night.

The difference in light is big compared with outside. Look into lumens and that line of research. There is plenty written on this that will explain what's going on and why your plant like the heavier light.

the only way a plant grows at night is thru the energy it stores during the day. so it pretty much like it running off its own lil batteries at night and it charge them all day:thumbsup:
