From the picture, it seems like the plant just hasnt kicked its seed shell. The plant can sprout and hold onto the shell for another day or two. If its the shell, dont pull it off. cause you can pull the whole head of the plant off with it. If that isnt the seed shell, then a better picture of the PROBLEM plant may be beneficial. lol

alright...it was the shell, i left it on for a few more days and the plant just slowly died, i may credit that to using too much nutrient solution
but new problem, the plant i had doing well has not started to dry out and leaves are turning brown and the stem is soft, even tho i had a fan blowing 24/7

You really need to fill out the troubleshooting form in the plant problems section to get good help.
What type of hydro system? Why is there a pool of water sitting on top of the plants? The seedling looked like it was drowned. How often is that water pouring onto the rockwool like that?

Both of these tips I learned from the WeeZard in different postsâ?¦.they are here in the archives somewhere.
If the seed shell is reluctant to release itâ??s gripâ?¦.then simply moisten it with an eye dropper until it softens enough to fall off on itâ??s own.
The second one is a bit harder to explainâ?¦.Weeze posted a picture. If we get lucky heâ??ll do it again here.
Instead of planting a seed pointy end downâ?¦.plant it pointy end up. As the seed makes the U-turn it scrapes away the shell on itâ??s own while itâ??s still moist and soft. I hope thatâ??s enough explanationâ?¦..the picture made it much easier to visualize.
I hope to have been of help.

I think mt is right about the overwatering. What is your irrigation schedule? Alway a ts form is a must for accurate troubleshooting

Thanks for all the help guys
my system is home made with some stuff I bought at the local pet store and organic farm
the water runs right over the rock wool, kind of like a river... The wool is on a slight angle so I wanted it to do that
also I did not know I needed a water schedule, again it's my first grow
any more ideas for me? Is there an easier way to use hydro? From the research I did before this style system seemed to be used the most... I mean i'm open for suggestion I'm really only trying to grow 2 plants for personal use...just to save me some money and to learn how to do something

And, what's worse, it will have a very hard time trying to "un-husk, yah?
Credit goes to Bill Drake for the pictures.
They are from his excellent grow guide from 1970.
He's worth googling.
