cloning an outdoor plant to bring indoor
I have a beautiful female in my backyard. I want to continue the genetics into my indoor room, by cloning the plant and creating a mother for future indoor and outdoor generations. Is this possible? I'm concerned I might bring in outdoor pests into my sterile indoor enviroment. Any thoughts or suggestions to make this work?
I have never grown outdoors so I also need to know when I should cut the clone. Do I need to do so before the plant is in full bloom? When should I clone the outdoor plant (i live in Seattle and dont know when flowering will begin)? Thanks for any advice.sambones Reviewed by sambones on . cloning an outdoor plant to bring indoor I have a beautiful female in my backyard. you can take a clone off your plant if it is still vegging outside. i believe you can even take a cutting 2 weeks of flowering. the more time it hasflowering the harder it will be to form roots. i wouldnt worry to much about pests from a clone taken from outside, its more if you take a potted plant outside indoors. you could spray some neem or any other prythiums before bringing inside to make sure your safe

It is quite easy. The best time to take a clone is after the plant shows female, but before buds begin to develop. Pick a small bottom branch. Two days before cutting it , spray the entire plant with a teaspoon of baking soda, and a few drops of liquid soap mixed into a qt of water. The day before cutting, spray the branch you will cut again. Both times spray in the evening only. Next day take your clone.
Examine your cuttings carefully. Discard anything that looks suspicious. If you see any signs of WPM scrap the whole idea. WPM is the gift that keeps on giving. Like a bad social desease, once in your room is next to impossible to get rid of.
Hope this helps.

You should take the clones soon, the light will start shortening and within 2 weeks from now you should see flowers.
Myself, I would not bother spraying with anything, but I don't know everything. I would check for spider mites first, possibly spray the mother with neem. But a sterile environment that is currently empty should be good, just don't use outdoor soil.
