Cardholders Beware!
Medical Marijuana Frequently Asked Questions - Washington State Dept of Health
What is a valid written recommendation?
Beginning June 10, 2010, a recommendation must be written on tamper-resistant paper. It must also include an original signature by the health care provider, a date, and a statement that says in the health care provider's professional opinion the patient may benefit from the medical use of marijuana. The 2010 law change also prohibits the use of a copy of the patient's medical records in lieu of a recommendation.

That's pretty clear.
"The 2010 law change also prohibits the use of a copy of the patient's medical records in lieu of a recommendation."
As far as I know, none of the cards people are carrying have an original signature. So, a lot of people are walking around with a very false sense of security, thinking the $40 they paid for their card is gonna protect them.

Cardholders Beware!
There is the thing about a reasonable facsimile of a person's signature or even electronic signatures that are considered original under the law.

Hmm... an original signature on tamper-resistant paper tells me "no copies".
Could something that seems so clear be murky, after all?

The best tamper proof document will be getting I-1068 on the ballot and getting it passed. Then setting it in stone like the 10 fucking commandments. 1-10 Thou shalt not arrest people for cannabis.

But that will all change after 2 years. To you know of a single intiative that wasn't mutilated after 2 years. I'm afraid Washingtonians have a false sense of democracy. Unlike a lot of other states our intiatives are meaningless because Washington is not a state rulled by democracy.

That's really the way it should be. Looking at the laws passed in some of the other states, Colorado has it as a constitutional amendment. Maybe so should the voters of Washington after it hopefully gets on the ballot and passed. And while we're at it, move for a constitutional amendment for all election funding be supported by the public and all donations go to a common pool to be drawn from equally by all candidates for any office. Like they would ever allow elimination of their slush funds and legal bribes.
