I hope you will come along with me as I track their progress. I am SO STOKED to be growing legally!!! Especially after the last time I grew the good herb: in October of 1998, I was charged with a fourth degree felony for having a bush in my garden. Now, with a very minimum of planning, I find myself with a card IDing me as a mmj patient, and a permit to grow. :D I've been Rating: 5

Because they had been in such large pots, the holes they went into went deeper than the good topsoil in the garden. Also, we sorta crowded them into their places more than we should have. So: their roots are now in contact with soil that isn't as good as what they were used to. And: we f%^ked with them a bit, getting them into their places. Angelina, on the other hand, fit nicely in the good topsoil, and didn't have to suck it in to get into her jeans. There's a newcomer now, too! A friend gave me a clone. She had been growing under lights, but after only a couple days conditioning, she went into the garden and was christened Dolly. Here are pics taken June 21.
Next time ya dig your holes, put your pots in to see if the size of hole you dug will fit your plants perfect. Also, it could be the pic, but they look close to each other. You might want to tie a plant one way and the next the other and so on. They will get used to the soil you put them into and next time, just let the soil dry out before doing any re potting as they will slide right out of the pot.

When ya top a plant you basically cut the top off right above the node or leave set. A Fim is cutting the tips of the very new growth, my favorite. This will give you from 4 to who knows tops. I got 7 with my Fim last year.

Glad to see ya here and that you put in the reading as it makes everything a bit easier. Plus you know what to expect as far as different methods you might want to try. I have a log here, so feel free to stop by and il be back here. Any help, just ask im here a couple times a day

    Keep er green:weedpoke:

Thanks for stopping by, LSY, Muddy, Dru. Everyone's comments are most welcome!

I guess the FIM vs TOP question is one that I will have to play around with some in the future. From looking at my pics, would you say that I've just been topping my plants at a very young age, or was it a fim? Whatever its called, there will definitely be more colas as a result.

    It's all good.... :hippy:

personally i dont top. I just let my branches get to the desired height, then i bend them over and tie them down.

It looks like your plants were just topped. Fimming(if done correctly) sprouts 3 or more tops.

Bending is a really low stress way to keep your plants short. Its also a great way to create more tops without actually cutting anything off your plant. Topping and Fimming stresses the plant tremendously and it can take weeks for growth to pick back up again.

...firstly, your plants look nice and healthy, so kudos, deserthealer!

and, in the FIM/top/LST/SCRoG debate, I kinda lean towards LST, mesef. [imho] It seems to stress the plants the least (over FIM/topping), and seems a bit more portable than SCRoG.

If your plants are outdoors-y ones, tho, you could prolly SCRoG 'em quite easily with some chicken wire, or do LST with stakes and string. If you have a particularly frisky top that just needs to leap, try FIMming that one, and see if you don't get four or six tops outta it.

Not sure if you have a problem with the Critters of Eating, but if there is a chance of that, you might wanna fence or cage 'em in a bit for their own safety (and your good harvest!).

Kudos on being legal, now, too! {From one MMJ gardener to another} Keep up the good work!

No not weeks as the fim will slow just a few days as the rest of the plant grows and iv fimed enough to know this. Topping maybe longer as you are taking the top off and the side branching needs to start, but in the end you will have multiple tops which is more yield and keeps them not as tall.

Bending works too, but if your starting a plant less then a foot you have the time for any stress your plant would go through. I just transplanted mine in its hole sideways so in stead of putting it up right then tying it, i just put the plant in sideways which basically is the same. I am hoping for lots of tops with this method.

if you train correctly, there is no need to FIM or top.

These plants are at week 3 veg, and I have been training the all of the branches. These plants would easily be three feet tall if i just let them grow, but they are about 12 inches because bend them over(which tricks that plant and stimulates branch growth.

Ive never even topped a or FIM'd a single growing tip.
