Bailed out banks won't cash SS checks
Today, after waiting I finally got my first SS check. Now, since I've been on the ropes for almost the past year, and not having a bank account I tried to cash a fat Social Security check. With my drivers license, passport and social security card, I went to two banks.
The first one was Chase, you know the New York bank that acquired WaMU after they went under. Chase, who has taken billions in bail out money from the taxpayer, refused to cash my check unless I opened an account. I told them that I had just spoken with some one from the local social security office who said any bank should cash it because they take federal funds and rules to operate. Not only that, they use FDIC deposit protection, and get a slush fund interest rate to borrow federal money. Yet they refused to cash a check drawn on the federal treasury with the proper identification.
I got the same bs from the US Bank. Both times, I said bullshit and left. I ended up having to cash it and put the funds on a prepaid debit card account I already had where I wanted to put the money in the first place. But the kicker was it cost me $40 to cash a federal check at banks who took federal taxpayer bailout funds, yet refuse to cash the governments check unless you deposit your money into their bank so they can collect interest off of it or you don't get it cashed.
Well, after this, I got news for you fucking officials in Washington DC and Washington state for that matter that allow banks to do this crap. Any one of you bandits that are running here and support the banking industry and their activities like this aren't getting a vote from me. I'll vote for the Zig Zag Man before I vote your tired, bought and paid for asses. I can remember when American banks were glad to cash your check hoping, not demanding that you deposit your money with them without strong arming you.
I now have it set to go direct deposit to the card I paid 2.4 percent to get there. The feds are now setting up their own debit card thing and after you use it five times, you start getting charged. I have a plan with my debit that I pay a monthly fee with no added charges if I use it 100 times. Uncle Sam when are you and the banking industry going to quit making the collective ass of the US looking like the Lincoln Tunnel after all the fucking its been taking? :wtf:gypski Reviewed by gypski on . I'm beginning to see it as a move by the government to force all monetary transaction into the electronic world.
I or anyone else should be able to demand from any bank insured by the federal government, cash for a check issued by the federal government without reservation with the proper ID. And I intend to write Patty Murray and any other democrat and let them know that if they support banks being able to do this then they won't get my vote, nor will their opponent. I will give me vote to the Zig Zag Man on a write-in. Fuck 'em.imp:

I only use banks with free checking or interest bearing checking accounts. Usually $100 minimum. My main bank has 2 accounts, one strictly for my direct deposits. After its deposited I move it to another account or usually just get the cash and keep it in my safe.
With the economy like it is and with banks having fractional reserve banking where they only have to have 8% in cash to cover withdrawals, they can get into a bind in a hurry is deposters get spoked. The fed is talking about lowering the reserve requirement to 0%.lol

I dont use banks either, Paper money is worth nothing with out shiny metals to back it up and the Us Government dosnt have enouf shiny metals even for 10 percent of society. So Sence They like to just keep printing money till we reach the Unstopable collapse of the Late united States Of America, I will be spending my money as fast as I get it for hard goods like Storageable food(IE the only Real security any one has is FOOD, with out it you Die) Best Home Food Free Guide Info Easy Help 1 Year Supply. California already talking about cutting welfare and SS. ROFL. Cant wait till Cali tears its self apart and destroys its own disease, I just hope the Rockie Mountains Contain the fire. First of all how old are you and WHY dont you have a bank account? Why didnt you go to a check cashing place? The banks dont care unless your a customer.......no banks right now are gonna take some joe nobody walking in off the street with a huge check not from their bank and cash it without a bank account. It aint gonna happen.
This is 2010.......and its called direct deposit. Go open a bank account. Do you keep all your SS money in your mattress??

This is the reason I hate everything/person/group/associate who is involved with banks, insurance, and normally government establishments.

I also understand the "gifting" money thing your talking about......I think my mother gifted us 6500$ when my boy was born.....but I got over alot of my trust issues and we have joint accounts. She isnt a bad person deep down like my ex and has her own money and great job.
I dunno man......im not hatin for that choice....but maybe try to let the past be the past and move on from the ex or atleast try. Your current wife doesnt care about you not doing a joint account? With a child together? Because of an ex? My wife might have a few, fair, questions for me over that.

And yea.....the check cash places rape ya no doubt.....but its kinda the price people have to pay who dont have a bank account at all? Seems wrecklessly irresponsible for anyone over 25 years old not to have their own bank account and some sort of savings plan. It also isn't very impressive to the ladies once your outta college......whats your credit score and how much debt do you have would be some of my first things to investigate if I was dating someone. Its 2010.
