It is worth noting that this bill also included a court ordered payment to settle claims by black farmers and native Americans who suffered systemic discrimination from 1981 - 1996. However, it is unlikely that the GOP would get many minority votes anyway so this probably doesn't concern them much.

Two people's who have been screwed over big time. I don't know about the 40 acres and mule thing, but as far as the Native Americans go, we have ruined their cultures and have yet to really assimilate them into our culture. The government has ripped off the BIA accounts. Their suicide rates are out of sight, apathy on the reservations, meth and crack abuse. I know people on a couple of reservations.
