Moving to Denver
Hello everybody!
I've been a lurker on these boards for several months because of a looming move to Denver. I am packing my business up and leaving my current state and coming there to become a patient and hopefully a dual-business owner shortly, within the confines of the current laws (of course).
That's where I get a little confused:
HB 1284 had all kinds of things changed and such and I'm a little confused. I have a good friend who owns a dispensary in CO, and he is sick of me asking him all the questions, I'm sure. If some of you kind would would like to spread some knowledge my way, I'll ask a number of questions and hopefully, there are answers. Thanks in advance for the help. For those who provide good answers, free medication may be in your future after my first yield
1) Is there a one year moratorium on dispensaries now? Statewide or just per jurisdiction?
2) How does that affect the wholesale market, now that one has been established due to the 70/30 rule that implies that there can be 'trading' and 'wholesaling'?
3) How long does it take to become a patient? I am a legitimate broken-back guy. Bulging disks, muscle spasms, doctors note to prove it and x rays and such...I hear it's taking up to 4 months?
4) Does anyone have experience working with the dept of revenue in their new role and how proactive are they being?
5) How high are the barriers to entry now? Is there really fees ranging from $7500-$15,000 just to open the doors to a dispensary?
6) Any federal protections for MMJ biz owners yet/looming?
Thanks in advance for answers, folks!

The ship you are looking for has set sail long ago, better off staying where you're at and trying to get things changed there.

Not looking for a money maker, just a lifestyle changing move to a more tolerant area. I want to become a legitimate patient so I can legally use what I've been using for years to cure my ills.
The business aspect is less enticing after looking at the last bill (very loosely, mind you, hence the questions).
But, I do have friends who are successful with it and I also run a large business with dozens of employees and would never do anything to hurt that business.
Easy money never happens, and federal law scares the Shiite out of me.

There really isn't much to worry about vis a vis the feds. One guy was busted earlier this year after bragging on television about his unreported income. The state hasn't busted anyone, to my knowledge. (FYI, others on this board take a much dimmer view. Many believe the state will soon begin widespread crackdowns.) CO Springs is run by Tea Partiers and other assorted assholes - they have a D.A. who has busted a couple of places.
