see this
PrideFest Parade draws 100,000 - The Denver Post
I've heard it said 10% of the population is gay.
Certainly over 10% of the population in Colorado are cannabis users.
The gay community has made massive strides in the last decade as far as rights and perception and going mainstream.

So have we! Ten years ago now Amendment 20 was being debated. A retail sales model has been established and codified. Numerous towns and cities, including Denver, have passed decriminalization or "lowest priority" ordinances. Patients are growing. MJ has never been more accepted in terms of public perception. Marijuana is mainstream. I think we have the most progressive marijuana laws in the country, and all of it has happened in the last decade.

Lessons from the Gay Community
It's often difficult for patients to come out of the closet, to go public with their medical condition and describe how mmj helps them. But, it's what we need. To put a personal face on medical cannabis in Colorado -- the reason why it's use is legal.
We need testimonies like this one seen in a You Tube video posted on Donna's blog yesterday. To hear the story of this young man from NH, in his own words, says it all.
YouTube - Medical Marijuana Patient Clayton Holton Tells His Story
If we could offer similar testimonies; video's, radio interviews, TV news spots, newspaper articles -- the voices of CO's mmj patients -- even the coldest of Colorado's red-necked hearts would melt.

agreed. It's the coming out. That was where it started for the gay community - telling their family and friends. All of a sudden - the 'cause' involved someone they loved.
That's a big part of where we are at. we each need to educate those around us.
It's not a disease to use cannabis, ya know?!Colorado patient grower. :rambohead:

This is very true, good point cob..The only huge difference I can see is nobody has ever gone to prison ( that I know of ) in colorado, because they were gay.. I think that as more and more people ,legal card holders, and recreational users alike, are more open about their use, I think the cannabis community will gain a lot of support.

That is silly. We're going to have to stop acting like children if we wish to be treated like adults. Chase is behaving in a petty and vindictive manner.
