Donna, if your patient doesn't have a preference, I'd suggest a variety of different types and let them be their own guinea pig (lab rat.) Cancer patients have many different symptoms to combat; extreme pain, nausea, difficulty sleeping, etc.

If you're seeking a higher CBD content (outside of flying to Oakland, CA) I'd suggest landrace indicas for your patient. Commercial varieties have very little CBDs, they've been unintentionally breed out of the plants due to it's anti-THC effects. Higher CBD varieties like the ones available in CA are of no interest to recreational users.

Higher THC varieties are probably most useful for their ability to impart a mental cheerfulness. But, in combination with cancer drugs, a little THC goes a long way, least they become uncomfortably high.

CBDs, according to scientific peer-review studies, are association with anti-inflammation, reducing spasms, anti-anxiety, anti-nausea, (to inhibit cancer cell growth by inducing 'apoptosis' or controlling the spreading - metastatic cell growth - the most extensive and positive results seem to be for breast cancer. Do not misunderstand - this is NOT a claim for cancer cure. Studies in this area are in-vitro or petrie dishes, not on living humans) and supposedly CBDs give you the munchies.

THC is most often related to pain relief and I suppose that's best in association with some CBDs as most pain is due, at least to some degree, to inflammation. (I also suspect THC is the cause of that aphrodisiac effect especially among the fairer sex when ingested.)

The most extensive scientific studies published to-date on the effects of THC / CBDs in living humans, has been done by GW Pharma Limited (GB.) They've spent millions of dollars on human testing (NOTE: no testing done with smoking.) These studies suggest the best ratio for medical purposes is 50:50 - THC:CDB.
