Difference between state issued and evaluation clinic issued card

    Hi, Newbie here.

I'm considering getting a card for medical marijuana for pain related to a urological condition and would like to better understand the difference between cards issued by private evaluation clinics and state issued cards. Is one preferable to the other? Are all cards accepted by all dispensaries? Are clinic-issued cards accepted if I'm stopped by the police?

I live in the SF bay area (San Mateo County)

    Thanks

Are cards issued by a private evaluation clinic generally valid at dispensaries throughout the state or only in the county in which it was issues?

    Thanks again.

As with any valid doctor's prescription, the law of Full Faith and Credit should apply, and as long as you are in the state which issued your medical license, you may go to any dispensary within the state and obtain medicine.

welcome, great questions. I moved out before they had a state issued card but my local CBC card got me into the Bulldog and another one in the city. I was 2 for 2. but this was back in '01. I'm sure a lot has changed now.

I think I have heard some say that really all you need is your doctor's letter of rec to get into most clubs. I think some shink it and have it cased in plastic for ease of use. :rasta:

good luck. anyone else know how it works now? I would be interested in all states on this issue but I don't want to jack your thread or anything. :rastasmoke:

I believe that's the Cannabis Buyer's Club card, not entirely sure.

yes, that's correct. That was where I got my card, they were in Oakland at that time and I'm pretty sure they still are. I was living in Bezerkely at the time. They are in the book. Call information and ask for the phone number for the Cannabis Buyer's Club in Oakland and listen to their reaction.

^ but, if it were me, I would try to find a club that will just accept your doctors rec, if that is still possible and not even get a card unless your really need it. :twocents: good luck.

big reasons for having the state issued card is to protect the user of mm from arrest for possessing, growing, using mm. It can provide the holder of a state issued card with a defense in the courts. At least that is how i understand it.

you should look up the 420 and 215 text and read those puppies.
