    Question regarding yields

So Im a new grower, currently have 3 plants going (super lemon haze, double blueberry and a vanilla kush) and they're just over 6 weeks old. I'm at work so I'll post some pics later. I'm using 2x2f floluorescents on a chain above, 1foot fluorescent aimed at the center of the plants and a desk lamp. I used white boards around the plants for better light reflection.

So after explaining my set up I have a few questions. First, I heard that when growing indoors you can only expect about an ounce per plant. Now my gf and I together smoke about an ounce per month. So for these plants to earn their keep, I would have to be able to harvest them every 3 months which seems kind of short. Is there any way to either shorten the grow time without affecting yield, or just adding something (more light, co2, etc) to increase yield? Now I have heard of the SOG technique. My concern with that is the number of plants you have growing at a time. I believe in Canada you can have up to 3 plants growing and not go to jail just get a big fine. so more than 3 at a time kinda scares me heh

Any help or tips would be awsome! Like I said I'll try to post some pics tonight for a better idea. Not looking to sell at all just want to have enough plants to fill my own personal need

    cheers

    Question regarding yields

First thing you need is proper light for yeild.3 done under 250 hps with room for roots to grow (5 gallon bucket at least). From experience. topping 2-3 times and veg for 6 weeks then flower for 6-8 depending on strain. You can better controll .If you purchase a strain that finishs early .Northern light and power plant can be done in 12 weeks. As well as other indica dominant plants. Some autoflowers will yeild 1 ounce per plant, if grown in the right conditions. In just 60 days.Heres .some autos for example. http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-gr...s-harvest.html

    Question regarding yields

    I'm sorrY what is "topping"?

So the fuorescents aren't good for yield and speed when growing? I'll definitely need to transplant since my pots are probably only 3 galons.

Also the seeds I used were feminized, does that mean if I take a clone from the plant to speed up the next grow, it will be female too? Or just 50/50 chance?

    Question regarding yields

When you clone from a mother plant .It will be in the likness of the mother. How big are they. Um dont go to 5 gallon if they arent ready yet. several transplants are ok. Flouresents will work, but you will need to get bulb splitters so you can run 2-42 watt cfl's(150 watt equivalent) per fixture.needing several for those 3 plants. 2700k for flowering and 6500k for veg.or you can up grade to a small hps. lowes has 150 watter that will handle the job(for around 80 bucks) with your existing flouresents on the side. being 6 weeks you should soon be ready to flower if they are large enough for ya. Topping means to cut the main cola or stem . Allowing 2 main leaders, if you top agaian 4 main. and so on. With proper light and care that will help increase yeild . To allow 2 topping i imagine you woulds want to veg out another few weeks. But since your light seems to be insufficent they probaly are not to large yet. When using floros compare to hps . your grow time will also be longer, and yeilds smaller. Due to the decrease in lumens when using floros.its worth atleast using one hps with your floros... Learn the basics before you try to get to complex.Read all you can it is here for your use. good luck

    Question regarding yields

Here are some pics that might help with the tips heh

for 6 weeks old they seem sort of small, just judging by some other pics i saw on the forums of same age plant.

So I think I will go out and grab a 150w HPS this week. When I get it should i replace it with the fluorescents above the plants? Or should I just replace it when they go into the flowering stage?

also once i transplant to 5 galon buckets, will 1 HPS lamp cover enough area for all 3? (assuming i still use some of the fluoro's around the sides) Just wondering because they seem pretty small when i looked it up.
