...a little more info would be good, such as the current pot size, and what you're thinking of moving it up to, would be good.

Also, how old is the plant? I assume that it is not a youngling, seedling, or clonelet... and are you going to go thru a 'short' grow cycle, or the whole year?

If your plant is showing yellowing leaves that you can't explain ennehoo else, and/or watering it seems to just 'run through', then yes, your plant is prolly rootbound, and it needs to have a bit more room to grow in.

Your lovely lil' darlin would benefit from a pot two to three times larger, but no more. If you still have time in your 'grow schedule', you should think about repotting more often rather than less. You want your plants to grow nice, dense rootballs.

I just repotted a plant of mine that is in its fifth week of flowering, from a 1ga passive hydro pot (peat/perlite medium), to a 3ga passive hydro pot with a 1ga res (sitting in a 4ga pot!), same medium, and you wouldn't believe how much of the 1ga pot the roots took up...

I took a little bit of time to gently break up the root ball a bit, at least at the edges, and just tamped the soil down gently. I am now getting water ready for a full-soak watering that the darlin could more than use...

    Mmmm... nice new repotted Numba6.

At 50 inches, doubtful it's a clonelet or seedling, lol. But how small a pot are they in now, and how large are you looking to go?

If she has just started showing sex, it's time to flower. Especially if headroom will be an issue, as a 50 inch plant will still stretch. (Indoors, right?)
If indoors, I hope it's a heavy indica that doesn't stretch much, or you may have a problem with overall height. Plant height, plus heat buffer between plant and light, plus the size of your reflector...is there room for more vertical growth?
What kind of lights are you using?

If a transplant is necessary, it's necessary. Use extreme care when transplanting. Might want to think about gently tying-up the branches with some string. Kinda like how they ship Christmas trees, with the branches all bound-up. Helps prevent bent and broken branches with larger transplants.
Use care with the rootball, as any damage will delay harvest time while she repairs herself, and heavy damage can stress her into hermaphrodism.

    repot or not ?

Thankyou for the detailed responce...a bit of info......i planted a single seed a friend gave me in april this year , its been in a pot about ten inches deep and the same wide , i moved it to my green house when it was about 4 inchs high and its been there ever since.
The center to bottom leaves had started to turn yellow so ive been feeding it a 10-10-10 plant food and adding a little phosphorus power as a little pick me up as its just shown to be female.
However , its my first time growing and definatly my last cos im in uk ?...but i repoted it today into a pot 12 inch deep and about 18 inchs wide.
Days here shorten on the 20th of this month.....so its got a few weeks to settle before i start seeing buds i hope ?
Ill add extra phosphorus when it starts budding proper...but im just gunna let nature do the rest
    Heres hoping...Pete
    Thanks for all your advice.
