A few things off the top of my head would be:

    - You know you have good seeds when you see it sprout, vs leaving it sitting in soil and wondering.

    - You have the advantage to plant the seed root down, vs just dropping it in the soil.

    - You are ensuring a moist environment as to not dry out the root, planting directly in soil you would have to constantly check on the moisture. If it dries out, you risk adverse harm to the overall well being of the growth.

    Oops!
Got a piece of information here that will serve you well, brother.
In the wild, because of their shape, cannabis seed usually land pointy-side up.

And, cannabis seeds all hang a "180" when dey emerge from da pointy end of da shell.
It helps them push the tap root down, then helps them shed the husk as it pulls the cotyledons up.

A good use of leverage and hydrostatic pressure.
