Like many, I prefer sativas to indicas for smoke, but they are a pain to grow in height-challenged areas.

What I propose is certainly not new and is a form of scrog, but I am wondering if anyone has tried something like this:

Picture a rectangular wood frame 1' * 4' with 12" of wire strung across maybe every 4" and about 2' off the ground depending upon plant container height.

Grow a pure sativa at the far left under the frame to maybe 12" high then bend at a right angle under the wire. When it grows high enough, tuck back under to the right. Repeat so that when mature, you will have a 5' plant - 1' high and 4' vertical.

Obviously the light of choice would be a 4-6 lamp 4' T5 for flowering.

Retarded, brilliant or old news?
