Is it time to force flower yet???
Unknown Indica looking strain. It is 20 inchs tall and has decent growth.
Growing under flouresents. Might be female, has 2 whispy looking hairs on side of each stalk next to leaf branch growths. (expand pictures)
Has been 24/7 lights for 5 weeks.
Wondering if its time to turn off the lights and flower?

You wont know the sex of your plant until you switch the light to 12 hours. If you want to harvest anything worth while your gunna need to improve your lighting. Those flouresents might be keeping the plant alive and growing a little bit, but theyre no good for flower. I suggest investing in a 250 watt or 400 watt HPS light. If those are a little pricey for you then you could probably to Home Depot and get some CFLs and get decent results.
There are a couple of hydroponics stores in Seattle that will have EVERYTHING you could ever need.
Hydroponics, Indoor Gardening Supplies, Hydroponic Systems - Home -this one is in Shoreline good selection, shitty service
Indoor Garden, Tacoma, Kent and Edmonds - this is a chain of 4 stores that are scattered across western washington. I go to the one in Edmonds, they are a little pricey, but they know there shit! just dont say anything about medical marijuana theyll kick you out
Also..... these plants are going to need 12 hours of total Uninterrupted darkness. even the amount of light that gets under a door is too much, it can lead to hermies. You might wanna enclose an area for them.
If you want decent weed, and a decent amount, your gunna have to make some upgrades in order for that too happen.
Im also from Seattle so if you have any questions or need any help, just let me know brotha.

Whats up?
Those arent preflowers. Sometimes if you let your plant grow to its maturity it will show you its sex before switching to 12/12. They are called preflowers.

When you say CFL, I have some extra table lamps. What CFL would you buy? Or just go for it with the 250watt MH?

Flouro's can give you pretty decent results, but they have to be verrrryyyy close(like inches) and you have to have alot of them.
A 250 watt MH would do just fine, but if you have a choice i would get a High Pressure Sodium light. The bulbs last longer, run cooler, give you more lumen output than MH, and gives you a better spectrum of light for flowering. Either way, when you put your plants under a HID light and your notice a huuuuugggeeee increase in growth. Go for the 250 watt and youll thank me later.
I veg my plants with T5 high output flourescents. My fixture is made for growing plants. You can have great results, Theyre different than your normal shoplights or garage lights. T5's are smaller and put off alot more light than the bigger t12 or t8 flourescent lights.

I'd rather stick with the MH versus the HPS. Lumens is a humen-eye measurement weighted at 555nm and means nothing to plants. The MH is much closer to sunlight and offers far more PAR PPFD than an HPS ever could.

If you want a nice 250 watt light, this is what i use right here. The digital ballast allows it to use either a 250 watt MH or a 250 HPS bulb, so the choice is up too you. It also runs very quiet, cool, and isnt too bulky.

if you wanna go a little cheaper here is another system, its just not brand name like the Lumatek. It also has a digital ballast so you can run both Mh or HPS. Its a killer deal though, the cheapest 250 watt i can find. i would be suprised if you can find a better deal.(and if you do show me!!! i wanna get one too)

Think I will do the 250 MH for sure. Will this one bulb do for veg and flower?
Thanks for all the help. Since this is my trial and its 6 weeks old. I will go to 12/12 starting tonight. Want to see if its male or female before I introduce a couple clones next week. Hopefully I can find a NYC diesel and God Bud clone at my collectives in Seattle. Love both:jointsmile:

The 250 will be good for a small growspace, maybe a 2' X 2'... 1 -2 good size plants, you could pull a cpl ounces every few months.
Anything bigger than that, I would go for a 400w or 600.
Also, if you can, go with a higher-end bulb, like the Eye Hortilux Super HPS.
