Bait and Hook
i know this is an old topic but i'd like to talk about head-shops/the garda and our government.
the head-shops setup here as a legitimate business. they were allowed to sell legal drugs to people over the age of 18, however they broke the law and sold them to under eighteens. there was a public out cry and laws were pasted to ban the drugs they sell and in time they will be nothing but a distant memory.
the problem i have is that the garda didn't bust them for selling to minors. i never heard off any off the owners been in court for selling to minors or anything. but if you look at it another way, there has always been an off licence or a pub somewhere where you can get drink if your under 18. and thats no even counting the newsagents selling cigarettes to minors. i know that the garda will bust them if they find out. which can lead to court case's and the off licence/pub fined or shut down. but i don't see them banning alcohol or cigarettes, as they did with the head-shops. did you see the issue here?
to me this looks like "bait and hook"
- allow a business to introduce new drugs onto the market
- allow a public out cry to develop
- pass new laws to ban the drugs
- bust the new illegal durg user's
what they've done is created a whole new generation off drug users. Junkies are easy to catch, quick to prosecute and are a returning business for the garda/courts and make the government look good as if they are fighting crime.
it's not the first time they've done this. but the one i know off first hand was the rave's. they allowed the raves to go on for years, entire night clubs selling nothing but bottles off water. they allowed for the drug problem to grow and when it was ripe they shut them down. the rounded the junkies up like sheep and were even on the tv showing how great they were.
the garda love it as they get great stats
the courts love it as they make millions from it
the government love it as it makes them look good
but it's all just a game, and we are the one's that it's played on every timepreytec Reviewed by preytec on . maybe but i don't think it's as much government as it is the legal system thats really making it happen. not that i'm supporting the head-shops or raves, my concern is the generations off junkies this type off system has and will make.
