Do you have any ducting going to the holes in the walls to extract the hot air? If you get duct (homedepot it's 2.50 I believe) put 2 of those bad boys with fans on the inside of your growing unit to blow thehot air through the holes you will have better results. Do you hve any pics of your grow area.. It might help leading you in the right direction with the heat issues.
Have fun be safe
enjoy the buzz

Can you tap into the chimney or another existing vent? If so, read up on local code as there is a right way and wrong way to do these kind of mods. You want to do it the right way... I'm not all together clear on your setup so it is hard to give adequate advice. It seems you have a grow tent in a closet venting from and to the attic? Is that correct? Can you give us more info on your fan? What is the make? Is it inline, squirrel cage, or other? What is the CFM rating or is that the same as m3/h? I'm thinking it is. Also, do you have a fan controller so you can dial in the speed to suit your needs?
It sounds to me like your fan is under powered or that you are drawing hot air from the attic which isn't able to adequately cool your tent/light.

sure. will take pics when i get my cam back in 3 hours...
whats wrong with with x2 300w CFL lights? seriously? around 38000 lumens.. each sq ft will need around 9000lumens.. 5000lumens per sq ft would be sufficiently enough though for optimum growth.. cfl lights penetrate more too..
23w CFL = 1600 lumens = 69.6 lumens/watt
30w CFL = 2000 lumens = 66.7 lumens/watt
40w CFL = 2600 lumens = 66.3 lumens/watt
compared to
150w HPS = 14000 lumens = 93.3 lumens/watt
250w HPS = 28000 lumens = 112 lumens/watt
400w HPS = 50000 lumens = 125 lumens/watt
600w HPS = 90000 lumens = 150 lumens/watt
i see it as, 7000lumens per plant, which means you can grow around 14 plants. i only have 5 plants...
i have A 600w hps which produces 90000 lumens, therefore, i need to have around 10 sq ft of area... i dont even have that... i jumped to a 600w hps as i always buy the best, but forgot to research about it! if i had 10sft of area, i wouldnt have a problem as the heat will spread and extracted..
my grow size is 6sq ft!

Now you can run cfls straight through the whole grow cycle but make sure the cfls are with in 2 inches of the plant tops. Now as you figured out the hps will be way to hot for that room unless you have proper ventilation. But you are on the right track my friend!!
