I wonder how "inclined" he would be if he was a cancer patient on chemo.

Sadly, the only thing that seems to get many medical doctors' attention is when a family member/loved one gets sick. Suddenly they (the docs) want more than what is offered by the medical establishment. But not until it touches them personally.
