hey there J Dub. I have the hanna meter you showed and it works fine. They also make a model that has E.C. T.D.S. temp and ph but I found out the hard way they wont work with a digital ballast and hanna gave me the one you pictured. I think I would check out the guardian by blue lab. ask if the probes are submersible. The hanna probes should not be submersed. At least thats what the rep told me. Float them on a piece of styrofoam he says.So if the guardians probes are totally submersible I'd might lean toward that one. Just my opinion
My hanna probe has lasted 2 years so far. I calibrate every 4-6 months and it off by .2 on average.

Why would a combo hanna EC/TDS/TEMP/PH meter not work with a digital ballast. Does the ballast put out interference that disturbs the meters probes or electronics?

Also my hanna meter is waterproof, it says so on the meter. I have dunked it many times although i try not to just in case it leaks. Are you sure the rep said not to dunk the waterproof ones? They do make ones that are not water proof.
