Gossip Girl' actor Chace Crawford was arrested just after midnight Friday in Plano, Texas, for possession of marijuana, police tell TMZ. As he was in possession of under two ounces, the offense has been deemed a misdemeanor.

He was arrested in the parking lot of Ringo's Pub in Plano, which is located just north of Dallas. Sources claim Crawford was in a car with a friend when police approached and found one unlit joint. According to reports, Crawford has posted bond and is out of jail.

According to state laws, those in possession of less than two ounces of marijuana can be incarcerated for a period of up to 180 days with a fine of $2,000.

Texas has a reputation for its harsh drug laws. To date, because the state of Texas does not legally recognize marijuana as a medicinal drug, any individual found in possession of it will be charged on a criminal platform (via criminaldefenselawyer.com).

Marijuana-related arrests accounted for nearly 5% of all arrests in the state during the year of 2002, the most recent year for which stats were available. This percentage includes 49,839 arrests for the possession of marijuana and 1,804 arrests for its sale.

yea right now Texas need to get with the program. i keep reading articles of crazy behavior out there. like the one below where this lady was having her daughter sell marijuana door to door. are things super bad down there? how stupid can someone be? lets legalize and get these people real jobs.
