That is true, but to compensate, you can move the bulb/tube closer without any heat (so long as you have ducting and fans), so it makes up in terms of light output, since it can be moved closer. Lumen loss will be about 8% at the same distance, but move it 2 inches closer, your back in business. Just be sure to keep the glass as clean as possible and you should be fine.
