I've used two kinds of rooting hormones, botone powder, and clonex gel, and right now I'm rooting some clones with nothing but water. All I can say is the hormones are just a little reassurance, but are not needed. I'm using a bubblecloner I made, and already after 7 days I spotted roots, they're under a t5 fixture.

As for transplanting, the roots are very delicate, so don't let the roots get too big, 1 inch max is what I use to judge when to transplant into solo cups with medium. if you let the roots get too long they'll be shocked to find they aren't going to stay in a true hydro system, so once you spot roots, plant them bitches.

Any reason why you're adding molasses already?

And as for the clone that had roots, the stalk pretty much got really thin towards the top of the plant when I put in to soil and the leaves started dying off. So that one is dead, but I do still have one left, so well see where that goes.

You have a humidity dome over top, yes? You can also cut the fan leaves in half (not lengthwise but across the width). This will keep them from expiring moisture. But you likely know this already.

I didn't do that to the first one, which was probably my problem, that and waiting too long to transplant to soil. I did however do that with the second one, so far it looks pretty good. I am wondering though, with the humidity being pretty high, would this be cause for concern as far as mold/fungus growth?

Lack of light is the determining factor for mold. Fungus is a threat in warm and damp conditions. If you keep them reasonably lit, clean environment between 68 - 78 degrees you should be fine. I've had clones under for 15 days without issue.

Sorry I misspoke. Clones don't like tons of light, especially if it comes with heat. Adequate lighting would be a shop fluro or T5 up about 1 foot. Ideal lighting would be an LED. You don't need or really want more than that for the first few days. You can ramp it up slowly after that. Also, as they start to form root buds, be sure to remove the dome for a few hours / day to harden them off. Again, I'm guessing you know most of this. Just my 2 cents.

I was giving them full light when I first cut them, but for a few days I have had the newer cutting under the stove light its dim, so I am assuming that's a good thing.

All of my clones liked tons of light,.... of course the light was coming from a 4 bulb 2' T-5 array just above the humidity dome (about an inch of the dome, or 6 inches from the plants, so not much heat there! ) I had the light on 24/0 and the humidity as close as I could get to 100% for the first 5 days or so.


Also I'm, rooting in rapid rooter plugs, not just water, so your results may vary.

So far my clone is doing ok, to make up for the lost clone I decided to plant 2 more seeds just in case, that way I know I am covered. Funniest thing, I saw a ladybug crawling in my sink I thought to myself, what the hell, I will throw her ass in there with the clone. No mites on this baybee.
