closet grow

I have a relatively small grow with 2 small cfls and some leds.. soilless around 6.7 ph or so, 75-77 during the day 67-?? at night. Plant is looking healthy and is about one foot tall at the start of flowering... any suggestions to keep limited height.. ive tried screen of green but didnt like it much because i felt the leaves and stems were just damaging the whole plant growing into the screen, also been trimming some and that seems to be the best answer for creating more bud sites but i wanted to hear expert opinions on the matter since this is my first experimental grow.. another random question, how soon after switching to 12/12 from just under a month of 24/0 should i see results of flowering? i wanna make sure to look for the right steps to be sure my humidity, air circulatiion or something else isnt way off..

a few days, I saw my first pistils in about 4 days. My strain is Afghanica; these times obvously change with strains.
