:thumbsup:I have not heard anything solid but there are efforts being made to organize a march with appropriate attire(or inappropriate as the case may be :thumbs-up
. As soon as there is a solid time and day we will let it be known.
The mall received local tax incentives to renovate after the shootings a few years ago. I understand what they are attempting to do but they should not be stepping on the rights of one of the few people that are actually willing to spend money there.
If they are planning to continue their current policy, the very least they should do is not allow minors into the import store or Spencer's gifts. If they are worried about the children why would they allow them to purchase marijuana logo-ed clothing and paraphernalia. I figure those stores would oppose that policy and not renew their leases. If they have many more vacancies the mall will fail.

The whole lack of private messages here is still wacky to me, but I guess it's only fair I eat crow publicly. Reenster and Jake, I would like to apologize to you both. The original story was lacking in details, but it was my responsibility to ask for clarification, not to jump to conclusions. I shouldn't have done that and I'm very sorry I did (although I do still think it's questionable whether this is a first amendment issue, it's definitely obvious Jake wasn't being a twat and I was very, very wrong for needlessly assuming as much).

SAFER just sent me this:
Mall Cops Out of Control!
Last Saturday, 28-year-old Jake Gailey was shopping with his girlfriend in an Aurora (CO) mall when security guards stopped and harassed him because he was wearing a "Yes We Cannabis" T-shirt. The mall cops told Jake he had to remove the shirt, turn it inside-out, or exit the mall because it's reference to marijuana legalization was offensive. When Jake expressed his opinion that he ought to be allowed to wear the shirt he was cited for trespassing and banned from the mall for one year.

To protest this ridiculous action by the Town Center at Aurora, SAFER is organizing a march inside the mall in which supporters will all be wearing "Cannabis/Can o' Beer" SAFER T-shirts.
The details of the event are below, so please join and/or help us by coming out and spreading the word. If you come, please wear a "Cannabis/Can o' Beer" SAFER T-shirt -- we will also have some shirts available for people to borrow.
If you are not in Colorado or cannot make it, please visit the mall owners' feedback form at Simon Property Group and send them a stern -- yet courteous -- message that this type of behavior is unacceptable.
WHAT: News conference and march inside the mall
WHEN: TOMORROW, Saturday, May 29th @ 3:45 p.m.
WHERE: Town Center at Aurora (off of I-225 and E. Alameda Ave.), meet in front of the east entrance off of S. Sable Blvd. and E. Centrepoint Dr

Thanks ReLeaf I just got the email and was going to post this as well.
Also, Vega, I appreciate your candor. I am as unsure if this is a first amendment issue, but my logic tells me that if it is not it should be. At the very least he was profiled by the mall security. I know I have worn my Ganja Gourmet shirt in that mall. I never was approached my security. I think they are target younger people as potential trouble makers by they was they dress or look. I feel they did not realize that Jake was an adult when they first approached him about his shirt. It would have been difficult to back down after back up was called.

I have to say I am very happy with with all the support that has been given to Jake! If anyone doubts the fact of whether or not this is a first amendment issue just look to the lawyers who acted so quickly on this, I see no doubt there. It IS a Colorado MMJ issue because it affects one of our brothers and you could be next. If we don't all stand together we shall surely fall apart.
I'm all for Jake getting a few $$ from them. It saddens me to see that they could not bring themselves to apologize, which will earn them my ongoing boycott of the mall regardless of any settlement. Yes money makes people take notice, which is too bad. But I don't think anything will have changed in the hearts and minds of those officers and mall employee's involved, which will require a constant reminder to the people that there are individuals placed in a state of authority over them that disregard the will and true authority of said people.

thanks vegetabongrips.
Now they are trying to make false claims to cover themselves. Makes them look even more guilty to a lot of people.
On the plus side I have been getting calls from people I havent heard from in years. My old boss from when I was 19 got a hold of me even lol.
Overall people have been very supportive.
Thanks everyone
