I actually said he got loud, I do not recall using the word feisty. Not sure if I ever have have used the word feisty. I also said I would be hard pressed to react much differently. I would get loud and maybe even be a bit feisty for a middle aged woman woman if I was detained by mall security because of a shirt.

You are entitled to your opinion. Its time for the attorneys to figure out if this is a first amendment case.Time to wait and see. Either way my guess is that the mall will lose some business and hopefully Spencer's Gifts will consider moving out since you can buy that hat with a big marijuana leaf on it at Spencer's but don't wear it out of the store.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but what if I bought a strap on dildo at Spencers?

Could I then wear it around the mall without the mall cops all getting pissed?

Hey, I'm just trying to bring some levity to all this. I wish you and your son the best.

That's part of the reasons your medical bills are so high...

This one isn't about money, it's about principle. At the most he should be compensated to cover a lawyer to fight this injustice...
    Hey Lampy,

Yes, I whole heartedly think he should get well into the 7 digit figure! What are our Civil rights worth these days? If we devalue them...we, well, devalue them.

Thats just from the mall. I think he should, also, sue the city too! But that's imho.

To be completely honest, it's arguable either way. It is definitely not clear cut in either direction, but I'd side with "if it only has 2 out of the 10 reasons, it probably isn't going to meet the same standard." There have been malls across the nation which, including police departments, were found to be private entities. Granted, we're talking about a state supreme court case, but we're also talking about it in reference to a federal right.
"Colorado: A city's financial support of a shopping mall, including its operation of a police substation inside the mall, combined with the range of activities permitted in the mall, made it a latter-day public forum sufficient to trigger the Colorado Constitution's free-speech clause, according to the state's highest court. This clause prevented the owners of the mall from excluding citizens involved in nonviolent political speech. (Bock v. Westminster Mall Co.)"

So like family night for instance?(the event going on the day I was there) or a range of other public events held at the aurora town center?

I think the police on sight were just as much to blame as the mall employees or more so even because they should know the law and not treat upstanding citizens that way. Im not sure what I deserve but then again I dont know what your civil rights go for nowwa days...
