OK, so it's been a while (about a month or so), and my slow-to-start plants have taken off!! I have posted some recent pics. I was being over-attentive when they first began to grow, but the more I have left them alone, the more they have grown! They are now almost 7 feet tall even though I have topped them repeatedly to keep them short and bushy. I am still feeding them Fox Farm nutrients, and watering as needed. I have 4 clones, and 2 that I grew from seeds.

The two I grew from seeds are playing with my mind.. I have been keeping an eye on their sex, and they appeared to be 100% female until this morning.. I am looking at the stalk of the plant, and their are red hairs. However, I am not finding white pistils (like with my clones), the pistils are red. And their is ONE tiny (almost hard to see with the naked eye) ball that has formed next to the hair/pistil.

I guess my question is: How do I know whether or not this is a calayx, or a seed pod? How long will it take before the "grape bunches" appear and it is obvious if they are male? And how much time do I have to determine the correct sex before it pollenates my females?

I have been doing lots of research on line, but I am still questioning whether or not these will turn into males.. I wish I could post some close up pics, but my camera isn't focusing close enough. There are definitely NO seed pods, or "grape bunches." But the one lonesome ball is screwing with my mind.. Maybe someone can post pics of their experience with early males???? Any help is appreciated!

Happy Growing!
