why is my butter 2 tone
so I made some bud butter in the crockpot. I let it simmer for about 10 hours, strained it an put it in the frige. When it solidified it became 2tone with a darker color on the bottom, anyone know whats up with that?

I'm not sure what's up with that, but if it looks suspect, you can always put it back into some more CLEAN water and do the same process. The water typically becomes saturated with chlorophyll and waste from the green material left over. Some of that waste will be stuck in the butter. If you do the process a second time with clean water, it will pull more contaminates out of the butter for you and leave you with better tasting edibles once you cook em'

Did you you use Butter or Margarine? You have to use butter because of the fat content. Margarine will separate.
Only other thing I can think of is you didn't strain it very well and your weed particles are sinking to the bottom.

Maybe you forgot to clairify the butter first, this gets rid of the bad fat in buter and then it should be clear.Clairified butter is what is in the small dish when they serve you crab or lobster along side the tarter sauce or if you request cocktail sauce.

Sometimes when you make butter sometimes a dark liquid will gather at the bottom. That is usually some funky water. Most folks just dump it off. If you have a lot of water or if you added water when you made your butter then you probably want to get rid of that. Otherwise if it is just a small amount mix it in with the first batch of cookies.
I usually measure off 1 cup amounts and freeze them in ziplocks. Then when I get to the last I add regular butter to make it an even amount for the recipe and cook that.
The cookies are always totally chronic. I can hardly tell between the first batch and ones made later on.
Good luck.:smokin:

Wash your butter. That darker tone is micro plant matter. When you get it cold does the darker stuff mush faster? IMO you meet to wash it. Stinkyattick has a great butter washing sticky thread.
