Found out what and why.
The phenomenal growth pattern is called "donkey ears" and my source is Greg Green's book about breeding. He had a picture of dried ones, and then I knew what it was, as of course I have some dried ones..

The event is a sativia trait coming out during the flowering process.

I lost the RMT strain, but my Strawberry Cough does the same thing.
WashougalWonder Reviewed by WashougalWonder on . Interesting growth pattern Hey all, this is a pic of a breed of mine I call RMT. It is about 4-5 days from amber, cloudy now. Regardless, this is the only plant I have that does this on the top of the cola at the end of life, starts at about the 5th week in flower, maybe 6th. I think this is as good or better than White Widow. Not that this bothers me, but I am curious if it indicates anything other than an unusual phenotype? Any knowledge? Any theories?
