heres my point of view: accept it or not, we are all indirectly exploiting poor countries, to make profits and to consume more. i mean, capitalism is all about consuming.

Capitalism is all about exploitation. North American domestic 'consumer capitalism' in particular might be 'all about consuming' inasmuch as it utilizes the tools provided by the situation.

if you are rich, you are "important", because you consume a lot, and of course, u have power. arent we all puppets? consuming, consuming things we dont need but we buy because of brainwashing ads, education and school.

I'd say that you're 'important' if you're rich more because you make people 'consume alot', because you're a capitalist.And, surprisingly enough, under capitalism capitalists hold the power. I'll agree with the rest of you're post though. School functions as a disciplinary force not as an educational institution. I'll refer to Society of the Spectacle for a critique of 'ads'.

Kerry would have been no better. Perhaps worse with regard to Iraq. During the election he critiqued the bush administration from a militaristic posture, saying that there weren't enough troops. Besides that his critiques were of the usual strategic, fundamentally imperialist, sort and nothing principled.
